INNPACT, a new independent responsible finance consulting company in Luxembourg 
Patrick Goodman and Arnaud Gillin are pleased to announce the creation of Innpact Sàrl, a new player within the responsible finance industry. Innpact offers specialised consulting services in the establishment of microfinance investment vehicles (MIVs) but also in other sustainable development businesses such as social finance, renewable energy or energy efficiency. The new company results from the management buy-out of Symbiotics’ Luxembourg based consulting arm, allowing both teams to better focus on their core activities.

International Finance Corporation (IFC) and German development bank KfW have announced the Microfinance Initiative for Asia (MIFA) to commit up to $1 billion through debt and equity investments, structured finance and advisory services to support microfinance institutions (MFIs).

Symbiotics closes the first series of its Subordinated Debt CDO programme to provide quasi capital financing to microfinance institutions 
Symbiotics Securities SA, the microfinance investment structuring boutique of Symbiotics, closed its first series of subordinated debt CDO. Symbiotics Securities SA acted as sole sponsor and arranger of the deal and as sole origination agent of the underlying loans, for microfinance programmes in Peru, Nicaragua and Kazakhstan. The Notes were sold to investors in Switzerland, the equity tranche through the government agency Seco/Sifem, the mezzanine tranche to private investors through responsAbility and the senior notes to pension funds and institutional investors through Finethic Microfinance.

Symbiotics closes Collateralized Debt Obligation (CDO) deal to provide local currency financing to microfinance institutions 
On 5 April 2007, Symbiotics closed a Collateralized Debt Obligation (CDO) deal that raises funding for micro-finance institutions (MFIs). Symbiotics acted as sole sponsor and arranger of the deal and as sole originating agent of the underlying loans. The MFIs come from five countries in South America, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and East Asia. Financing has been arranged in USD, EUR and PEN (Peruvian Soles). The deal has a volume of some USD 18 million.

Buchanan Completes Microfinance Securitization Worth $60 Million 
Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC recently handled the MicroFinance Securities (MFS) XXEB deal, a securitization of cross-border loans to approximately 30 microfinance institutions. The transaction directed $60 million of international capital to low-income entrepreneurs in Latin America, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa.

Symbiotics closes Microfinance collateralized debt obligation (CDO) transaction 
On 18th October 2006, Symbiotics S.A. concluded the third and final closing of “Microfinance Loan Obligations SA – Compartment Opportunity Eastern Europe 2005-1”. This deal raises funding through the capital markets for microfinance institutions (MFIs) belonging to the Opportunity International Network in the Balkans and Russia. The financing, with a total volume of EUR 26 million, is an asset-backed (Collateralized Debt Obligation) transaction structured under Luxembourg securitization law.
