Roland Dominicé

Executive Director

Roland Dominicé was appointed executive director in 2008, after having been in charge of client relationship and business development since co-founding the company in 2004. He has also worked for BlueOrchard Finance as their chief financial officer for three years, as well as for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Geneva in management consulting, for McKesson in San Francisco in corporate finance, and for UBS Switzerland in institutional asset management. Roland holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute in Geneva and a master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago.

Vincent Dufresne

Corporate Management – Director

Vincent Dufresne is co-founder and heads the Corporate Management unit in charge of organizational development, information technology, finance, HR and administration. Previously, he co-founded Infobahn SA and Qlik.ch Sàrl. Infobahn is an internet software development company with much experience in microfinance, notably with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Microfinance Information eXchange (MIX) and BlueOrchard Finance. He also worked as banking auditor at Arthur Andersen for three years. Vincent holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of St-Gallen (lic. oec. HSG) and has passed the CFA Level II exam

Cédric Lombard

Investment Analysis – New Markets – Director

Cédric Lombard is co-founder and director of the New Markets unit since 2009. Previously, he setup the Symbiotics’ Mexican office, and has been responsible for credit research and analysis since 2005. With over ten years experience in microfinance, he has visited and analyzed over 300 microfinance institutions in 30 developing countries. In 2001, he co-founded BlueOrchard Finance and worked for four years as its Head of Investments and Operations. Before that, he worked as project consultant on the first version of the Mix Market, the Virtual Microfinance Market, at the UNCTAD; as a free lance microfinance consultant in Peru and Bolivia; and as a micro- and small enterprise consultant for Genilem in Switzerland. Cédric holds a degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute in Geneva.

Yvan Renaud

Portfolio Services - Director

Yvan Renaud is the director of our Portfolio Services unit, focusing on pipeline development, portfolio services and risk management. Prior to that, he has worked for BlueOrchard Finance, first as investment analyst for Peru, Mexico, Cambodia, Western Africa and the Balkans and then as operations manager, as a microfinance consultant in Peru, as a small enterprise consultant in Western Africa, and for Capital International in Geneva for five years, as fund accountant, business analyst and special project manager. Yvan holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Geneva and a master’s degree in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics.

Investment Analysis – Microfinance Fixed Income – Director

Daniel Schriber is director of the Microfinance Fixed Income unit, having previously worked as investment analyst for the Balkans and Asia, and as regional manager for Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Symbiotics he worked at the International Committee of the Red Cross first as Head of Office in Kibungo, Rwanda, then as Head of Sub-Delegation in Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, and finally as Deputy Head of Operations for Eastern Europe at the ICRC Headquarters in Geneva. He also worked as a volunteer for humanitarian work in Calcutta, India and cofounded a political movement for the integration of Switzerland in the European Union. Daniel holds a degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute in Geneva and an Executive MBA in Management and Corporate Finance from the University of Lausanne.

Corporate Management - Chief Financial Officer

Boris Vetsch is responsible for corporate finance, human resources and general administration. He worked previously for the largest pharmacy chain in Geneva Switzerland, as chief financial officer and subsequently chief executive officer for four years. M. Vetsch started his career in corporate finance positions and as an auditor at Ernst & Young for ten years; he thereafter worked consecutively in the transformation of a small family enterprise, in a multilateral agency as financial analyst and as a volunteer finance officer in a humanitarian NGO in Calcutta, India. Boris holds a degree in Business and Management, a degree in Accounting and a degree in Marketing and Communication (SAWI).

Gilles Bayon

Corporate Management - Information Platform Development

Gilles Bayon is architect-developer for the information services unit of Symbiotics. As a former senior consultant and system architect for industry leaders such as Cambridge Technology Partners, Framfab and Osiatis, his experiences have spanned a broad range of business and technical domains. He has applied agile methodologies, open source software, Microsoft .NET to the development of many applications. Gilles is mostly known on the Internet as the head developer behind iBATIS.NET, an open-source data mapper for .NET. Gilles holds a master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Grenoble.

Corporate Management - Information Platform Development

Christophe Brédy is analyst-developer for the information services unit of Symbiotics. Previously, he worked for seven years at the national French railroads company (SNCF), first as developer and then as technical leader for Microsoft . NET technology. He was responsible for technical design issues of software development projects for new technologies. Christophe holds a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Lyon

Corporate Management - Information Platform Development

Jean-Philippe Clivaz is web developer for the information services unit of Symbiotics. Previously, he worked for two years during his studies in a computer and technology services company. He was responsible for project design and development on the Microsoft .NET platform. Jean-Philippe holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Systems and a master’s degree in Computer Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL).

Martina Bozzola

Corporate Management –Assistant Manager

Martina Bozzola assists the Corporate Management Director and the Executive Director. Prior to joining Symbiotics she worked as a marketing and business development analyst in a management trainee program for General Motors Acceptance Corporation Financial Services; as economic analyst for Caterpillar sarl and as economic adviser for the Permanent Mission of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste to the United Nations. Martina holds a degree (summa cum laude) in Economics of Public Administration and International Organizations from Bocconi University, Milan and a master‘s degree in International Economics from the Graduate Institute in Geneva.

Leticia León Campos

Corporate Management – Administrative Officer  

Leticia León Campos is Administrative Officer for Symbiotics in Mexico City, covering all administrative, legal and accounting tasks, as well as assisting the investment analyst team there. Prior to joining Symbiotics, Leticia has cumulated over 25 years of experience in the Mexican financial sector, working as a credit analyst with Banco Santander, as a branch director for BanNorte, and account manager for IXE Banco. Leticia holds a degree in Business Administration from the Banking and Commercial School of Mexico City, as well as a postgraduate degree in Strategic Planning and Merchandising.

Salah Elamin

Corporate Management – Financial Assistant

Salah Elamin assists the Chief Financial Officer, in charge of corporate finance, human resources and general administration. Prior to joining Symbiotics he worked for three years at Procter & Gamble International Operations in Geneva, as a product supply planner and as marketing assistant. He was responsible for products launch, human resources and marketing budgets monitoring and he also participated in implementing an initiatives portfolio management database for Western Europe, Middle-East and Africa. Salah holds a degree in Business Administration.

Yannis Berthouzoz

Business Development – Senior Product & Market Analyst

Yannis Berthouzoz heads the research and business development unit. He has previously worked at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, as a research associate in the investment issues analysis branch. He has also worked in the mutual fund industry, as a portfolio administrator with Capital International in Geneva. Yannis holds a master in International Relations from the Graduate Institute in Geneva and a Master of Advanced Studies in Globalization and Social Regulation from the University of Lausanne and Geneva.

Jérôme Audran

Business Development – Product & Market Analyst

Jérôme Audran is product & market analyst for the business development unit, working on industry news, country reports, social rating and investment funds analysis. Before joining Symbiotics, he has notably worked as an auditor for a microfinance institution based in India for which he conducted a social and financial audit as well as an impact survey. He also launched a fair trade project in Vietnam and has been active in business development in various British and Swiss companies. Jérôme holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Quebec in Montreal and a master’s degree in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute in Geneva.

Yannick Bruttin

Portfolio Services – Operations

Yannick Bruttin is senior analyst for the investment operations. He is in charge of originating, monitoring and servicing client portfolios as well as running internal audit, risk management and control functions. He has worked previously for five years within the corporate action department and back office operations at the Lloyds Bank in Geneva, as well as participated in various education and technology projects. Yannick holds a degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute in Geneva and attended a master in Public Administration at the University of Geneva.

Portfolio Services – Client Advisory

Fabio Sofia is in charge of client relationship management of our investment advisory services, after serving for four years as our regional manager for Latin America. Prior to that, he worked for the Human Rights Policy Section of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, first as assistant to the Americas desk and then as human rights project consultant; for Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie, a Swiss private bank, as technology development project manager; and for Deutsche Bank as back office analyst. Fabio holds a degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute in Geneva and a degree in Management and Administration from the State of Geneva.

Phillips Todd Farrington

Investment Analysis – Regional Manager Latin America

Todd Farrington is responsible for our Latin America Investment Analysis unit, based in Mexico City. Prior to that, Todd was a Director with ACCION Global Investments; founding partner of MicroRate and general manager of MicroRate Latin America, at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington DC, and with the Inter-American Foundation in the Andean Region. Todd holds an MA in Economics and Financial Systems in a combined program from The Fletcher School and Harvard Business School; an MA in Literature from the University of Michigan; and a BA in Literature and Economics from Amherst College.

Investment Analysis - Regional Manager Europe, Asia, Africa

Jérôme Savelli is regional manager for Europe, Africa and Asia. Before joining Symbiotics in 2006, he worked for Deloitte & Touche as junior auditor in the financial institutions department and as regional risk project manager for Société Générale Investment Banking in Hong Kong, China. He subsequently worked for three years as director of Initiative Development-Ghana, a microfinance NGO delivering credit, savings and training services to urban poor in Accra, Ghana. Jérôme holds a degree in Business Administration from the ESSEC Business School, Paris.

Bénédicte Brochu

Investment Analysis –Latin America

Bénédicte Brochu is the senior investment analyst for Latin America, covering our partner MFIs in Colombia, Panama, Honduras, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic, in addition to staff training responsibilities. Prior to that, she worked for the banking group BNP Paribas in France where she was in charge of client relationship for the agricultural sector over a period of three years. She then worked as CFO for four years on microfinance institutions in Cameroon, Madagascar and Mali. She holds degree in Agronomy and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Amiens in France.

Anne Rosales is investment analyst for Latin America, covering our partner MFIs in El Salvador, Mexico and Nicaragua. She joined Symbiotics after working two years as microfinance consultant at Planet Finance Mexico. Prior to that, she worked as senior external auditor for three years at Ernst & Young Audit in Lyon, France. Anne holds a bachelor’s in Economics from Lycée Saliège in Toulouse, France and a master’s degree in Business and Management from the EM Lyon Business School in Lyon, France.

Claudia Rojas is investment analyst for Latin America, covering our partner MFIs in Peru. Prior to Symbiotics, she worked in client relationship for financial institutions at Citibank in Colombia, for the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Trade, for Standard & Poor’s Sovereign Ratings Group and for the United Nations Capital Development Fund during the International Year of Microcredit in 2005. Before moving to Mexico, she co-funded an immigration service company in New York where she was manager for two years. Claudia holds a bachelor’s in economics, a diploma in International Relations and Development from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbia University in New York.

Alejandro Solis

Investment Analysis –Latin America

Alejandro Solis is investment analyst for Latin America, covering our partner MFIs in Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay. He joined Symbiotics after finishing his MBA in Finance at the University of Chicago. Prior to that, he spent seven years at Banco del Credito del Peru as senior credit risk analyst in their corporate banking and agribusiness divisions. Since 2004 Alejandro is an active member of the non-profit organization APRODESA that advises small-sized and poor farmers on financial matters. Alejandro holds a bachelor’s in Economics from the Universidad Del Pacifico in Lima and a master’s degree in Busniess Administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business in Chicago.

Vincent Lehner

Investment Analysis – Latin America and Eastern Europe

Vincent Lehner is investment analyst for Latin America and Eastern Europe. Before joining Symbiotics, he worked for the group Nestle where he was in charge of supply chain and operational improvement projects in Russia, Venezuela and Ukraine. Previously he worked for two years as a logistician with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) supporting operations in Angola, Sudan and the Russian Federation. He has also worked for three years as a business consultant with IBM. Vincent holds a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ).

Investment Analysis – Caucasus and the Middle East

Anya Berezhna is investment analyst for Caucasus and the Middle East. Prior to Symbiotics she worked in Syria, Burkina Faso and Mali for Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM), an international network of microfinance institutions. During her assignment in Syria she was assisting the Finance and Operations departments in the establishment of the First MicroFinance Institution in Syria. In Burkina Faso and Mali she worked as technical assistant for Internal Audit and Finance departments. Anya holds a master’s degree in Microfinance from Nancy University in France.

Benoît Bouet

Investment Analysis – Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia

Benoît Bouet is investment analyst for Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia. Previously, he has worked as an internal consultant for BNP PARIBAS in Moscow and in the private banking industry in Geneva as an assistant relationship manager. Before, he worked for one year for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Russia as a director of a cultural center. He also co-founded a student driven association, Planet Microcredit, partner with Planet Finance, aiming at aware students of microfinance issues. Benoît holds a Master Degree in Russian Studies from the Nanterre University, France and a Master Degree in International Business from the SciencesPo School, Paris.

Rajitha Vinnakota is our investment analyst for South and East Asia and is in charge of our investment unit in Singapore after working as a consultant for our Research team. Prior to joining Symbiotics, Rajitha was a High Yield Research Associate at Wachovia Capital Markets. She also worked as an Analyst in Wachovia’s Institutional Investor Management group. Rajitha also taught English in the Dominican Republic. She holds an MBA from INSEAD; an MSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics and a BA in Public Policy from Duke University.

Valérie Dujardin heads Symbiotics Investment Management S.A., having previously been in charge of investment origination, fund research & client relationships. Prior to that, she had spent six years in the banking and capital markets of PROPARCO, based in Paris, Johannesburg and Harare. She also worked for the equity research department of Morgan Stanley Capital International. Valérie holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the Sorbonne University (Paris) and a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University (Montreal).

Symbiotics Investment Management – Investment manager

Vlassis Tigkarakis is an investment manager, after having successfully been in charge of key client relationships for our investment advisory business. Prior to that, he has worked four years for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), first on corporate social responsibility issues among companies in emerging markets and then on private equity investment analysis and supervision. He has also worked for the Financial Institutions Group of Credit Suisse First Boston (New York). Vlassis holds a masters degree in International Relations from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Athens University of Economics and Business. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst® and has spent a year as an instructor for the World Bank Treasury CFA® Training Program.
